An extraordinary palace at the heart of the Spanish countryside. A warm and attentive team. A restaurant serving regional flavours. Welcome to Pablo Gómez Garrido's hotel.
"Offering you luxury, tradition, comfort and exclusive, personalised service."
Pablo knows his 'palacio' by heart. He started out as a receptionist and now manages one of the most beautiful four-star hotels in Spain's Santander region. This is a real source of pride for Pablo who loves foreign languages and human contact and has always dreamt of a job based on meeting and exchange. "My teams and I do everything we can to give our guests unforgettable stays and experiences." Fantastic services aside (30 spacious rooms and one gourmet restaurant), the Abba Palacio de Sonanes, The Originals Collection makes a lasting impression. Built in 1719, its façades are a lavish example of Spanish Baroque art. Inside, the style evolves from exposed stone to coffered ceilings, classic lounges and this incredible stairwell. "Twenty years ago, this was all in ruins. The Abba Palacio de Sonanes, The Originals Collection is now an invitation to journey through time in an exceptional country setting far from hustle and bustle."
The 30 simple rooms at the 4-star hotel take guests by surprise given the flamboyance of the other spaces. Whether you opt for a 20 m2 room or a 30 m2 suite, you'll love the comfort, peace, classic decor (modern with period furniture) and air conditioning (a must in Spanish summers!). Nature lovers will stand at the windows to admire the views over the garden with its 200-year-old magnolias, or the stunning Cantabria countryside.
Familiar with the culinary flavours of Cantabria? Discover the diversity from breakfast through to dinner. Organic milk, sobaos and quesados (typical regional cakes), deli meats and local cheeses will awaken your taste buds at the morning buffet alongside juices, fruit salads, bread and other teas and coffees. The restaurant and the opulent style of the dining room are the setting for equally opulent culinary offerings showcasing the regional and local produce.
The Iniro restaurant's unique menu (starter, main, dessert and drinks included) is a tribute to regional cuisine. Regularly updated, its key dishes include griddled sirloin steak, milk lamb and hake, raising traditional to gourmet standards.
Please note: open only during the April to October season.
A Baroque treasure in a verdant setting, the Abba Palacio de Sonanes, The Originals Collection is a wonderful stopover as you explore the beauty of the autonomous region of Cantabria in northern Spain.
Nature lovers will be in their element here. Don't miss: a visit to the Cabárceno nature reserve in the Pisueña valley, the pretty village of Vega de Pas in the valley of the same name or the Miera valley and Sopeña cave, one of 6500 prehistoric caves in the region. A stopover in Santander (capital of Cantabria) or Comillas to visit Gaudí's Palace is a must. On the coast, the light sandy beaches with (fresh) turquoise waters are also worth a detour.
Around 40 kilometres from the city of Santander, at the heart of the Cantabria countryside, the Abba Palacio de Sonanes, The Originals Collection offers a unique and exceptional setting for your career events. The three bright and air conditioned seminar rooms are each as stunning as the next (through their size or decor) with views over the gardens or surrounding countryside. This place will enchant you with its tranquillity and easy access.
