BILBAO’S GUGGENHEIM MUSEUMThe ‘titanium flower’, Bilbao’s symbolic building, is home to the Guggenheim museum. The building, designed by Frank O. Gehry, is considered a masterpiece with its amazing intertwining curved shapes, and its yellow limestone, glass and titanium walls. It assembles one of the world’s most extensive collections of 20th-century art, from classic avant-garde to the most recent trends, not forgetting abstract expressionism and pop art.
GUERNICA PEACE MUSEUMGuernica, immortalised by Picasso, has a moving museum recalling the bombing suffered during the Spanish Civil War on 26 April 1937. The museum consists of three areas: the first looks at the notion of peace using quotes from Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Chateaubriand, etc.; the second recalls the tragic history of Guernica; the third approaches the issue of peace today.
At the summit of Monte Igueldo, in San Sebastian, there is a theme park, restaurant and a wonderful panoramic view of the sea, the natural harbour with Santa Clara island and San Sebastian in its amphitheatre of mountains. The illuminated city is a beautiful sight in the evenings. Still in San Sebastian, take some time to lie on La Concha beach. It stretches for 1,350m. from the city hall to Miramar park. This magnificent stretch of fine sand forms a perfect curve. Ondaretta beach is equally remarkable.
The hotel, located in Portugalete, just 15 minutes from Bilbao, has beautiful seminar rooms that benefit from natural light.
