The charm of Italy, art de vivre and a luxurious lifestyle, a trip back in time. Welcome to Riccardo Olearo’s hotel.
“Our estate will really take you on a journey back in time, in a world devoted to art de vivre.”
This is a wine-making estate and a tribute to the Italian art de vivre. The 3-star Castello di Razzano, The Originals Relais, run by Riccardo, is another world, a charming hotel, museum, wine cellar… And it all comes from an unusual family venture, a passion passed from father to son which improves like good wine. Located in one of the most picturesque parts of Monferrato, in the north-east of Italy, less than one hour from Milan, Turin and Genoa, this wine-making estate welcomes its guests in a coaching inn, a historic building with 13 rooms and suites. Set in the heart of a magnificent wine-making region of Piedmont, this 3-star hotel has a swimming pool and restaurant which make it an ideal place to enjoy the charms of Monferrat.
“For the rooms, we wanted style, elegance and sophistication,” explains Riccardo. In this coaching inn, built hundreds of years ago in the heart of the estate, the rooms and suites (from 30 to 120m2 for the largest suites) are extremely elegant. The rooms at Castello di Razzano, The Originals Relais are stylish, authentic, magical. They have 17th-century exposed beams. With high-quality materials, fabrics and items, these living spaces will take you to another era. The rooms and suites however have all the modern comfort you would hope for from a hotel of this class.
- Non smoking room
- Air-conditioned room
“In the mornings we offer a continental breakfast beside the pool,” says Riccardo. A generous breakfast where you can try some excellent local products, even organic. The same memorable experience is possible in the enchanting setting of the restaurant: “It’s a space dedicated to the real flavours of our region,” explains Riccardo.
THE CHATEAU RESTAURANT
“We offer traditional Piedmont cuisine with a twist,” says Riccardo. The dinners prepared by the chef Dajana at the Castello di Razzano, The Originals Relais invite you to try Monferrat’s purest culinary tradition with a twist for a modern and sophisticated setting. The chef designs the menus solely using local products, accompanied by our own wines and oil. Try the custard tart with parmesan, Pachino tomatoes and basil, the crispy truffle salad, potato gnocchi with a typical Monferrino stew, rabbit stuffed with apricots...
This 3-star hotel invites you to taste the Piedmont art de vivre. And to appreciate the wonderful hills of the Monferrat region.
Monferrat (Monferrato in Italian) is a historic region of Piedmont in the north-west of Italy. Some of its vineyards feature on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The estate has a nice little museum where you can learn about the wine-making art in this fantastic region. The 3-star Hotel The Originals Castello di Razzano also organises tastings of its own delicious wines. Accompanied by cheeses.
EXPLORING MONFERRATA region protected by many fortresses and dotted with countless castles, towers and fortified villages, the Monferrat land is fertile with Piedmont producing several of its best wines (particularly barbera and asti spumante). This province of north-west Italy is spread around its capital, Asti, which every year hosts the Douja d’Or (wine festival) and the Palio horse race. Don’t miss Vezzolano Abbey, one of the largest Roman-Gothic sites in Piedmont.
Turin is worth a visit, not far from Castello di Razzano, The Originals Relais. This is a city with no shortage of architectural gems inherited from the Dukes of Savoie. Take a stroll, for example, from Piazza San Carlo and admire San Carlo and Santa Cristina churches along Via Roma, the Palace of the Philharmonic Academy (from the 17th century)... and the famous ‘caval d’bronz’ equestrian monument sculpted by Marocchetti in 1838. And if you like cars, don’t miss the MAUTO (Turin Automobile Museum).
