An exceptional natural setting. A small charming hotel. A kitchen full of discoveries. Welcome to Mauro Oliani’s hotel.
"Offering a relaxed atmosphere and quality service in a natural and typical setting.”
Mauro left Milan for the Bedretto Valley for the sake of nature and after developing a crush on an old chalet-hotel, typical of the Swiss Alps. After a renovation sticking to traditional décor (stone, wood, beautiful and large fireplaces, welcoming and warm décor), Mauro opened a spa and a relaxation area. And on the kitchen side, the dice were rolled on bringing the omnivorous guest closer to vegan cuisine. “I do not impose my philosophy on anyone. Those who wish, have the opportunity to discover that for every animal food there is an alternative.” The first customers thought he was crazy but now many come out of curiosity. “Here you have everything: nature, good air, relaxation and what’s more, you can find a balanced diet.” A body with a healthy spirit could be the motto of Chalet Stella Alpina Hotel & Wellness Spa, The Originals Relais, your perfect accommodation in Ticino.
The 9 rooms of Chalet Stella Alpina Hotel & Wellness Spa, The Originals Relais have been renovated. The presence of wood and a both soft and contemporary décor, gives them a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Of varying dimensions but always very well arranged, these rooms are comfortable and offer quality services. Some have balconies, all with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
- Non smoking room
Cheeses, charcuteries, jams, home-made cakes ... Breakfast is a tribute to local productions. To be savoured in summer on the terrace, in winter in the bar room. All in striking stone and rustic authenticity, the restaurant room offers views of the mountains. Once glance at the menu reveals that it is amazing, even if a bit confusing for the unsophisticated diner. “A few years ago, I challenged myself to bring the omnivorous customer closer to vegan cooking.” Spelt, tofu or seitan come together with Italian flavours and typical mountain dishes.
LA STELLA ALPINA
Of course there is nature, the mountains, the great outdoors, the open spaces, but the Chalet Stella Alpina Hotel & Wellness Spa, The Originals Relais is more than that: it is an oasis of well-being.
SPA AND WELLNESSEnjoy the wellness area and its many amenities: dry or steam sauna, jacuzzi with chromotherapy, tea room and solarium terrace. Treat yourself to a relaxing massage with alpine arnica oil and alpine essences, a sports massage with acupressure, a stone massage, a foot reflexology session, a yoga session, meditation in the middle of nature or a course of natural and organic food. Athletes will let off steam at the fitness corner which puts some training machines at your disposal.
THINGS TO DOIn winter all cold weather activities are offered to you: cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, snow shoeing, hiking... Val Bedretto, a few kilometres from the Gotthard pass is one of the snowiest areas of the Alps in Europe! Summer: hiking, climbing, mountain biking, trekking on the trails of the valley. For Oliani, the owner, what you should not miss, are "walks in the evening or at night to observe animals such as deer that come down the mountain to drink from the river”.
What our customers say
"Good - but be careful...."
We enjoyed the stay and the dinner. It was really very nice, the staff was very courteous. However, the accounting system seems to have high error rates. The halfboard was accounted additionally to the price for menu a la carte. It already starts with confusing extra rates in the menu carte. Luckily, we discovered the double-booking - the staff was really responsiveness and we got the money back (cash). Nevertheless, it was confusing - the next day we watched a family complaining the same error. Either this system to book the halfboard and additional prices is too error-prone or the communicatoin on how to handle the system is badly explained to the staff.
"A lovely cosy and friendly weekend away"
Myself and my partner Charlie stayed here for 2 nights and had a lovely time. The rooms are cosy warm and comfortable with awesome alpine decor. The food in the restaurant was amazing and they have a lovely choice of wines. Breakfast was nice and the coffee is great. We had a fun stay & we also got snowed into the chalet due to weather warnings. The next day we were evacuated off the mountain with risk of avalanche yet the hotel made us feel safe and comfortable and everyone helped each other with cars and getting down safely. We will most definitely be back in the new year to explore more of the surroundings that we missed and to try out the slopes in the area! Thank you for having us. You guys have a lovely thing going.
"We were very disappointed"
Me and my partner stayed at the Stella Alpina for two nights. We were hoping for a nice wellness-weekend - but at our arrival we were informed that the spa and wellness-aera of the hotel was closed (due to Covid-19). Of course we understand the safety and precaution-measures - however, we should have been informed prior to our arrival. It isn't tolerable that we travled all the way up to the Hotel only to find out that the spa and wellnes-aereas are closed (the main reason for us to travle there in the first place!). This was a big disappointment for us. In addition, the service-personal never apologized for the inconvenience and was rather rude to us. We would have been happy with an apology and a small discount. But the service-personal didn't take on responsiblity for
"My Days Voucher"
The Hotel is situated in a serene valley, it is beautifully designed and the rooms are nicely made up. Unfortunately, we had the room with an external bathroom in the hallway, adjoining another room with a direct door, which isn‘t so comfortable for a family with a baby. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the check-in process was rather complicated, whether that was because of our My Days Voucher or because of the hotel is hard to tell.
"Nice and cosy"
We had a nice stay. Only the brassato was not tender. The vegetarians are better off
"Lovely place, authentic and cosy"
We enjoyed the location. Tbe restaurant downstairs is very authentic and staff very nice. Even with the face masks on (yep, its Covid Time) we could see the smile in the eyes of our hosts! Everything is stylish without going over board. If we are in the region, we will definitely go again.
"Very nice and cosy"
Located in the Swiss countryside this hotel surprised me with the charming rustical atmosphere, nice staff and very good kitchen. It is on my "comeback" list.
Very nice area. Cousy hotel. Excelent Risoto :-) But some guests unfortunately used dinning room as a conference room (noisy disscusions abour work) . So my dinner was not relaxing :-( They should be ask to think they are not alone there.
Lovely experience. The Situation is very nice the foot is good and the staff sympathetic.
