Romanticism and the Belle Époque have made excellence the watchword for an authentic château lifestyle steeped in elegance and charm. Welcome to the world of Pascale et François Hamelin.
"We love the human touch and pleasure of sharing the beauty of this exceptional hotel and our magnificent region with our guests."
Recent château owners Pascale and François are fulfilled hoteliers who delight in sharing a slice of this eternal heritage with their guests, at the heart of the magnificent town of Saumur. Hotel Château de Verrières, The Originals Collection has indeed been honing its timeless elegance since 1896, making this a truly exceptional venue among luxury hotels in Loire Valley. Its Belle Époque influences and romantic aura, amidst a vast estate in the English style, make for a timeless experience. As Pascale explains, this 5-star Saumur hotel, with its understated luxury "is a place steeped in history". A discreet welcome and refined service awaits, from owners who are "constantly listening to our customers" - the attentive lord and lady of the manor presiding over an exceptional hotel.

- TROGLODYTE SITES
The ten charming rooms of this private château, with period decoration and furniture, make for a journey back in time. It’s as if everything has remained unchanged since its creation in 1896 - chic, cosy and bewitching. "The château’s history, decor, original objects and furniture, as well as its two-hectare estate at the heart of the historic town of Saumur all contribute to our Saumur accommodation enchantment", explains Pascale.

BREAKFAST & BAR
In the morning, a buffet is set out under the tuffeau stone vault in the old kitchen, bathed by the rays of the rising sun. Breakfast can also be served on the terrace in summer.
Guests are able to relax in the 5-star Madagascar bar. This Belle Époque bar in the centre of the lobby opens onto the lounges and south terrace. Here you can enjoy sampling Meridor gin, the first London Dry Gin to be produced in the Loire Valley, distilled by Combier in Saumur.
Château de Verrières, The Originals Collection hones its own discreet luxury and French-style refinement through mesmerising experiences and intoxicating discoveries.
REST AND RELAXATION
Located in a beautiful Romanesque room under a tuffeau stone vault, the spa offers an unparalleled opportunity to unwind. This space dedicated to relaxation and reverie has a superb whirlpool and sauna. Massages are also on offer to fully embrace the feeling of absolute wellbeing.
Saumur, "the Pearl of Anjou", is an exciting town - a real heritage jewel classified as a town of art and history and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Saumur is a place of horsemanship, with its famous Cavaliers du Cadre Noir, and also has some architectural marvels, such as its château and old town. Some beautiful walks are on the agenda.
Pascale particularly recommends visiting the troglodyte sites of Maine-et-Loire. A thousand kilometres of galleries make Saumurois the largest troglodytic concentration in France. And Pascale will be able to advise you on Anjou’s best sites from among the hundreds of cellars, caves, mushroom houses, etc.
What our customers say
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting and will definitely return. The staff were highly professional and catered for our every need.
When we arrived we were greeted very warmly by the owners. they are both very warm and caring people who are doing their utmost to make sure your stay will be a memorable one.
"Comfortable but small room not good value for money."
Interaction with the owners felt very awkward. The room was comfortable but very small. The breakfast was very poor value although one of us is gluten intolerant so was unable to eat the cereals or pastries which made up most of the breakfast .
"A gem of a hotel."
Beautiful sensitively restored Belle Epoque villa furnished splendidly throughout. The hotel is surrounded by lush gardens which are cocooned by magnificent centennial trees. The staff are without exception welcoming friendly well informed and incredibly helpful. Thanks to them we enjoyed a wonderful visit to Saumur and it's surrounding areas. We look forward to returning soon. Exceptional.
This exceptional venue, nestled in the midst of an estate at the heart of Saumur, is home to a superb seminar room bathed in natural light, where excellence is the watchword.
