Hotel diploma in hand, Ludovic went where the opportunities took him, crossing France in the process. He travelled to Paris, Rouen Saint Sever and Coquelles in Hauts-de-France. “In 2004, I started my own business, purchasing my first hotel in Rouen.” He then spent 14 years in Aurillac. In February 2020, Ludovic settled in northern Bourges where he took over The Originals Access Bourges Nord Saint-Doulchard. A two-star hotel with 38 rooms, he began by renovating the communal areas. His motto: friendliness, cleanliness and guest satisfaction. With his team, Ludovic enthusiastically manages his hotel like a guesthouse, always ready to be of assistance. The one standout point? “The boss’s welcome!” smiles the man that is often described as receptive, quick, efficient and a joker. He’s a philosopher too: “do the job you love, and you’ll never have to work a single day in your life,” he says happily, borrowing from Confucius.

By unanimous agreement, the breakfast is a high point at The Originals Access Bourges Nord Saint-Doulchard. In a lovely room in a rustic setting, “Breakfast Time” unfolds around a huge buffet of sweet and savoury offerings. The cheeses and apple juice come from local producers while the fruit, jams, teas, yoghurts and honey boast the organic label. There are no dining options at Ludovic’s hotel but he and his team will be able to point out the best nearby spots for a quick bite or a more sophisticated occasion.

We had a room with double bed for our overnight stay on our way home from the south of France. The room was modern, clean en also roomy. For us it was perfect!

"It was great"

Good Points: excellent breakfast, Good Shower, Nice room, friendly staff, Good location and price range. This could be better: You can hear the next room very good. We could hear the guest sleeping and understand the whole conversation. Also we had one socket.

"Very nice rooms"

The rooms are perfect, only 2 drawbacks, first is the mosquitos all over in the area (not your fault, but it's just a nightmare), second the lack of iron machine for shirts at anytime. I arrived at 8pm and had meetings at 9am, and the only proposed option was to wait for 9am to have someone iron the shirt (which did not match the need). Anyway, I assume it is because you're a leisure hotel and not a business hotel
