The Atlantic, the charming Ile de Ré, nature. The Ile de Ré and salty happiness. Welcome to Stéphane Heraudeau and wife Valérie's hotel.
"I wanted to return to live on my home island. What do I love about it? Sharing secret little corners of the island with my guests."
An Ile de Ré native and an islander at heart, Stéphane dreamt of living and working on the Ile de Ré. He wanted to share his passion for his island with guests. Currently managing the Hotel Les Vignes de la Chapelle, The Originals Relais, is the offshoot of his passion for the Ile de Ré, its protected nature and unique charm. "Our ecological hotel is the only one of its kind on the island. I wanted my guests to be able to really switch off in unspoilt nature. I also wanted to be able to save outstanding natural heritage and a fragile environment," Stéphane tells us. Built like a little village, this four-star hotel offers two rooms and 17 suites, all elegant and balanced. With its swimming pool and wellness centre, it's like a haven of good living.

- SAINTE MARIE DE RE
Our philosophy veers away from ostentatious luxury and towards peace, beauty and delight. We like the authenticity and understated decor typical of the island, says Stéphane. The two rooms and 17 ground-floor suites are a perfect illustration of this simplicity and refined elegance. The 'Traditional' rooms and the 'Seafront Lodge', 'Garden Lodge' and 'Loft' suites boast welcoming terraces and a contemporary style with soothing tones. One of the 'Garden Lodge' suites is adapted to guests with reduced mobility (Tourism and Disability label for all 4 disabilities). For greater freedom, each suite has a 'snack corner', allowing guests to heat up small meals or prepare their own breakfast.

- Room service
In the morning, the indulgent breakfast buffet will surprise you with 60 or so products, mostly organic and locally sourced. You'll enjoy them in the beautiful dining room or the covered inner courtyard facing the vines and lulled by birdsong and the sound of the waves. After a lovely long day of walks or lazing on the beach or at the poolside, a lounge awaits you for wonderfully relaxing moments with family or friends. You may also choose to relax on the wooden terrace around the swimming pool and make the most of incredible views over the vineyards and sea. In winter, a roaring fire warms the atmosphere in this friendly place.
Ré is an island of unspoilt nature with much to explore. Heaven for cyclists, it has some wonderful surprises up its sleeve.
RELAXATION AND WELLNESS
The wellness centre comprises a spa with a sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. The perfect place to recharge on the ocean's edge. The hotel also offers a selection of relaxing massages (Californian, with essential oils, reflexology, etc.) with delicious herbal teas on top. After relaxing, dive into the heated swimming pool.
BIKE TOURSThe hotel offers comfortable bikes for hire. This is a fantastic opportunity to roam the 'white island' and its many cycle paths. The trails are stunning in the salt marshes, across immense beaches, vineyards, pine forests and picturesque little villages. You can even push on to the end of the island, towards the famous Trousse-Chemise woods.
SAINT-MARTIN WALKJust 8 km away is: The town of Saint-Martin with narrow, peaceful, cobbled streets which have retained their classic 17th-century appearance. Magnificent fortifications built in the early 17th-century were completely reworked by Vauban and are now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
SAINTE MARIE DE RELose yourself in Sainte Marie de Ré, the Ile de Ré's oldest village, which remains authentic with the 'Green Resort' label Discover white houses with green shutters, little alleys, old chapels, one of which dedicated to sailors lost at sea, and its many hiking paths and cycling trails.
What our customers say
"Very nice place"
Nice rooms Good facilities. Overpriced bar and breakfast. No WIFI
"A perfect retreat.."
This was the second time we stayed at Vignes de la Chapelle and it was every bit as good as the first time. After a long drive we were warmly greeted and taken to our loft room which was basic but comfortable and had everything we needed for our three night stay. The added flexibility of having a small kitchenette was helpful with two small children and the meals available from the hotel in the evening exceeded expectations on a night that the children were too tired to venture out. The pool was thoroughly enjoyed by us all and was never full - the entire place has a feeling of peace and tranquility about it. We rented bicycles from the hotel and really got out and about and enjoyed this special island. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and always available. I would really recommend this hotel and Ile de Ré and we will return!
