This Luxembourg province is a surprising place. Belgium's green lung, the nature is lush and the landscapes breathtaking. Nestled at the heart of the Ardennes forest in Haute-Lesse, the Moulin de Daverdisse, The Originals Relais flourishes in six-hectare grounds. Jean-Pierre and his family welcome their guests to a beautiful and traditional Daverdisse hotel. "We want people to feel at home here," says the owner. He also takes charge of the kitchen, seeking out new flavours for his guests. The family looks after 24 comfortable rooms. The ambiance is cosy and almost intimate. Comfort and idyllic nature allow guests to recharge their batteries. In the spa, relaxation and unwinding is easy for the very pampered guests.

The Moulin de Daverdisse, The Originals Relais has its own gourmet restaurant in Daverdisse. Morning and evening, Jean-Pierre and his team busy themselves in the kitchen, seeking new combinations of flavours. In the evening, head to the bar to order Trappist beers, cocktails and mocktails. Make the most of the incredible terrace. To get the day off to a good start, the Dufour family serves up a buffet breakfast.

MOULIN DE DAVERDISSE

In its elegant setting, this Daverdisse restaurant serves excellent French gourmet fare. "My cuisine is based on noble products but I also like to create new dishes," says Jean-Pierre. He's assisted in the kitchen by his son Ludovic who gives free rein to his imagination. Don't miss the veal sweetbread croquettes and king prawns with cauliflower couscous and lemon and kaffir lime cream, the fried duck foie gras, cacao juice and candied rhubarb with pink peppercorns or the monkfish tournedos and Norway lobster with a saffron-infused fish broth and Niçois vegetables.

BOUILLON AND THE SEMOIS VALLEY

Explore the little town of Bouillon, the capital of the Semois Valley, 30 minutes from the hotel. It's overlooked by a fortress (the work of Vauban) standing on a rocky crest. The Semois Valley boasts spectacular landscapes. A tributary of the Meuse, it twists and turns on a steep-sided path. The picturesque, isolated path is the homeland of illustrious knight Godefroy de Bouillon and a region steeped in legend with its fairies, witches and pierre à marier (wedding rock).

BASTOGNE

Symbolic of the terrible clashes during the Battle of the Bulge, Bastogne is less than an hour from the hotel on the Ardennes plateau at an altitude of 515 metres. At the town's northern exit lies the immense and impressive Second World War memorial. The museum immerses visitors in a journey through the Battle of the Bulge with an audio guide and video screenings.
