Château de Dissay The Originals Collection

Had an overnight stay here and Wow. What an amazing experience staying. The Chateau is stunning inside and out. The rooms so perfectly clean and comfortable. The staff so friendly, from the front of house to the maitre de and sommelier, the chefs who produce the the food , fabulous presentation and exquisite to taste. Certainly a diamond of an hotel of the highest quality. Please pass on our thanks to all of the staff. Cannot wait return. Very highly recommended from me and my husband

We came to the Chateau Dissay to have a couple of days in an exquisite place with luxury services. The spa was very nice; the infrastructure is beautiful and well kept. The pool is wonderfully warm, sauna and hammam, clean and functioning well. The massage and personnel were really nice, although the massage oil wasn’t heated and sometimes poured cold directly on the skin; not very agreeable. The massage room was also a little cold and at the end of our spa experience, we were confronted with a bit too much of pressure to buy spa cosmetics when we just wanted to enjoy our rest. But again, the spa was the good part of the stay. The hotel part was just a series of deceptions. The room for the first part, was large and the bed was perfect; but the heat was off when we got in, and no furniture besides two chairs and a clothes rack (!!!). When I called the receptionist to ask if we could have a more cosy room, she said there weren’t other “luxury”rooms available. Now is the moment to stress the fact we were only two couples staying at the Chateau that night... Now, the dinner! What a feast! I had asked before confirming our stay if there were any adaptations due to the covid crises; my husband and I, we would have gladly postponed our stay to the reopening of the restaurant. But the person I had then on the phone said they had an arrangement with a local “traiteur” and that we could have our meal taken in the living room. Now that convinced us, and we were expecting if not a fine gastronomic experience, a lovely simple and well prepared meal, in alignment with the Chateau’s announced starndards. Oh my god! I don’t even know how to describe our starters. A piece of tasted bread with cheese and bacon, reheated in the microwave. No salad, no nothing around it. Yummy. Thank God the Champagne was good. The main dish just followed the same path. Lasagna which looked like it had just come out of a student cafeteria. Again; no garniture whatsoever. The desert, a chocolate Religieuse, was good and was the only item that actually came out of the kitchen of someone who could cook. The next morning, I dreaded our coming down to breakfast. Although it wasn’t as bad as our dinner, what a low standard breakfast for a place of this level! No eggs, no bacon. No specialties. Nothing. Just bread and industrial jam and canned fruit salad. What is this place ? And finally, when we explained our deception about the meal to the hotel director; he said he would “report the information”. To whom I’d be curious to know when he’s supposed to be in charge. No discount for our trouble. Nothing. Lousy stay in a lousy place. Tripadvisor is definitely going to hear about this. Covid is no excuse. Because in fact my husband and I are going through difficult times because of covid and we were actually looking for a rest. And the money we put into that was a lot more than what we got back.

We're very pleased to have found this hotel by chance, having had to reorganise our drive back from Spain to England due to Covid quarantine rules. It's a beautiful chateau, with big rooms, very helpful and friendly staff and a fantastic chef. The dinner was the best we've had in a long time. There were perhaps one or two small oddities such as manual air conditioning units, but it's a work in progress, and if it was perfect they would probably charge three times the price.

The place is quite amazing and the restoration works are beautiful, comfort of room especially the bedding were perfect for a good night sleep. The resturant food, service & breakfast were also of the highest standards.

This 15th century castle is very beautiful. The hotel and rooms are decorated with great taste and harmony, in a contempory style that respects history and spirit of a castle. We had dinner at the restaurant, it was delicious. The spa was a peaceful and so relaxing moment. Last but not least, every team member was extremely kind and careful, making our stay a very exceptional moment. We highly recommend this hotel.

Upon arriving the castle was elegantly bathing in the sun. We parked, got to the reception where we were given a great tower room (with fire place), overlooking the garden. We had a wonderful dinner in the amazing restaurant. It really felt totally in style - Dissay being the formal residence of the Bishops of Poitiers before the French Revolution. The next day we enjoyed a top breakfast, visited the old chapel with wonderful mural paintings and then left.
