A historic building in deepest nature. Personalised high-quality hospitality. A restaurant serving the best regional flavours. Welcome to Cyril Orinel's hotel.
"A passion for hospitality, the many different people you meet and the French art of hosting."
Cyril has two heartfelt passions: Old stones and the hotel industry. So it was an easy decision when the opportunity arose to take over Le Manoir de Pierre Levée, The Originals Relais, a few kilometres from the town of Tournon-Saint-Martin, Indre, in 2018. The works were monumental but not enough to dampen the enthusiasm of a man who relishes everyday challenges. "Guests get back in touch with themselves here. It's a decompression chamber far from the frenzy of daily life. An old building built between the 15th and 19th centuries, our two ponds in nine-hectare enclosed grounds, our breakfast, our semi-gourmet restaurant and – most of all – our charming little hotel (six rooms) ensure a unique experience for guests!" A four-star experience!
Whether Standard or Deluxe, the six rooms at the Manoir de Pierre Levée, The Originals Relais are all housed in the estate's former outbuildings. Spacious and bright, their simple and elegant decor is inspired by modern design. "Water is life so the bathrooms and shower rooms have been deliberately placed in the middle of the rooms in open spaces," explains Cyril. It's incredible. And disconcerting for some. An experience, in any case. "Rest assured, the toilets are, of course, private!" Cyril tells us.
A mammoth breakfast awaits you every morning at the Manoir des Pierre Levée, The Originals Relais, in the dining room and on the terrace. With honey, cheeses, seasonal fruit, yoghurts, milk and bread from local producers and artisans, it's a wonderful tribute to country and Centre-Val-de-Loire regional produce. At lunch and dinner, the hotel restaurant invites you on a semi-gourmet culinary journey through regional flavours and fresh modern interpretations.
Within Berry and Touraine, on the doorstep of the Brenne Regional Nature Reserve, the Manoir de Pierre Levée, The Originals Relais is a chance to a enjoy a beautiful, relaxing stay in an often little-known region between royal and wizarding land where nature reigns supreme.
For those looking to get in touch with nature, Le Manoir de Pierre Levée, The Originals Relais offers two activities: fishing trips in private ponds and escapes in Brenne Park on the lookout for protected flora and fauna in the 'land of 1001 ponds' (rare birds, roe dear, wild boar, stags, etc.).
Classed as Europe's leading dermatology spa resort, the little town of La Roche-Posay boasts the architectural spa charm of the early 20th century and its medieval city will take you back to Duguesclin times (city gate, keep, Notre-Dame church, medieval houses). Make the most of your stay to enjoy some treatments at the hot springs and, if you like to roam the green, the city golf course is a chance to perfect your swing. Prefer the thrills of horse racing? Head to the racecourse.
Little-known among the general public, the Gartempe Valley is nonetheless one of France's best protected historical sites. And its river, the Gartempe, has clear – if a little cool – waters great for swimming, kayaking and fishing. Don't miss a trip to the little village of Angle-sur-Anglin (one of the most beautiful in France), overlooked by the shadow of its 11th-century castle ruins.
Amongst the region's heavyweights, don't miss the Futuroscope Park, the Haute Touche zoological reserve and Beauval Zoo and its famous pandas. Nature lovers will marvel at the spectacle in Brenne Regional Nature Reserve and the Gartempe and Creuse Valleys perfect for activities such as kayaking, swimming and fishing. Heritage fanatics won't want to a miss a tour of the Maison du Parc in Rosnay (or its delicious tasting sessions"), Fontgombault Cistercian abbey, the elegant Château d’Azay-le-Ferron or the incredible Château de Toufou and its 'remarkable gardens'.
Head to the Manoir de Pierre Levée, The Originals Relais for a work session amid majestic peace in deepest nature. Settle down in the 80 m2 of the former orangery whose ideal layout will ensure the smooth-running of your career events. With stone paving, high ceilings and views over the inner courtyard through a huge bay window, the room's charm is another big draw. The Manoir team can organise team-building in the grounds and customised services.
