She had crossed the Channel for a year to study the language of Shakespeare. Jennifer returned with a professional path she had never imagined. “During this eye-opening journey, I discovered the world of hospitality—and I never looked back!” In France and abroad, she immersed herself in every department and every category of establishment, climbing the ranks until becoming the owner of her own hotel in May 2024, right in the heart of Cap d’Agde.

By her side is Danny, a passionate and discreet hotelier with over 30 years of experience, all self-taught. Always deeply involved in his ventures, he has had the opportunity to manage a wide variety of properties across the globe—from hotels and guesthouses in Le Touquet, to a spa and riad in Morocco, and a hotel in Sainte-Maxime. For Danny, every project is a new challenge—a chance to grow, diversify, and constantly enhance the guest experience.

With a flair for decor that’s “colorful and full of humor,” Jennifer is gradually revitalizing their 3-star, 40-room hotel. Their shared goal: to stand out. Ideally located just 150 meters from the Agde port and 1 kilometer from the beach, the hotel is above all a place where guests feel truly welcomed. “When guests walk through the doors of The Originals City, Hôtel Cap Maya, they should expect a warm smile, genuine service, and meaningful connection,” says Jennifer. A promise Danny also keeps—always ready to share a story or offer heartfelt advice, with kindness and joy. Just like them.

CASTLE LAURENS

Both a palatial villa and a Neoclassical temple, Château de Laurens overlooks the banks of the Hérault River. A remnant of the region’s rich ancient past? Not quite this “folly” was built in 1898 at the request of a wealthy heir from Agde. A cultured traveler and an incurable dreamer, Emmanuel Laurens designed this place, drawing inspiration from his journeys to the Orient and his love for Art Nouveau. A mesmerizing and exotic visit awaits at this historical gem, now classified as a Monument Historique.

EPHEBE MUSEUM

The only museum in France dedicated to underwater archaeology, the Musée de l’Éphèbe owes its name (and its creation) to the discovery of a Hellenistic bronze in the Hérault River, depicting Alexander the Great, known as the Éphèbe of Agde. Today, the Éphèbe proudly stands among a wealth of treasures from the Etruscans, Greeks, Romans, Celts, Visigoths, Saracens, Vikings, Spaniards, and Italians, all recovered over 60 years of excavations in the Hérault River, the sea, and the Thau Lagoon.

Tips from your hotelier

The Thau Lagoon

With its inland sea-like appearance, the Étang de Thau is a natural environment unlike any other in Europe. Its ecological diversity allows it to host and shelter over 400 plant species and 100 animal species: clams, sea snails, sea urchins, gilthead bream… Not to mention the famous oysters and mussels from Bouzigues, produced by the 800 farms that ensure their cultivation. Wider than it is deep (ranging from 4.5 to 10 meters), the lagoon harbors some secrets. Legend has it that on clear days, the bell tower of a mysterious sunken city can be seen.

Tips from your hotelier

THE CANAL DU MIDI

Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this major piece of engineering has been a source of pride for the region for over three centuries. While nothing remains of the freight transport activities that led to its creation, the Canal du Midi today delights pleasure boaters. Among the curiosities to discover is the Adge Lock, the only round lock on the Canal du Midi, which allows boats to turn around on themselves to head towards Béziers, Étang de Thau, or Agde. If you're not keen on sailing, the canal banks can also be explored on foot or by bike.
