Behind its impressive neo-Gothic façade, the 3-star The Originals City, Hôtel Quai33, Saint-Etienne - Station Chateaucreux houses 16 modern and comfortable rooms. According to locals in Saint-Étienne, the building has always served as a lodging place.
“We don’t know exactly since when, but it’s said that Resistance fighters were sheltered here during World War II,” reveals Nouredine.
Since taking over the hotel in 2023, the young man and his partner Lydia have renamed it Hôtel Quai 33, a nod to the nearby Saint-Étienne train station, just a stone’s throw away. Formerly a life manager on an oil platform and then a manager in fast-food chains, Nouredine turned to hospitality out of passion. “Ever since I was little, I wanted to work in a job connected to people.” This career change has given him and Lydia a new adventure. “The smiles and interactions with our guests are our greatest motivation.”
