Nothing suggested that Marion would ever work in hotels. “It happened by mistake really, in 2007, thanks to an opportunity that I was offered by the company I was working for”. She fell in love with the business and one year later took the reins at The Originals City, Hotel Côté South, Marseille East in Allauch. With a 3-star rating, the welcome that this little 24-room hotel near Marseille provides to its guests is as warm as the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region's sunshine and second to none, as are its breath-taking views across Notre-Dame de la Garde and the ‘Phoenician City’ of Marseille, 15 kilometres away. Guests’ tastebuds will be treated just as well with the menu at partner restaurant Côté Délices. In the shade of the fragrant pine trees in the estate surrounding the Carlevan Castle, the two establishments offer guests the chance to sit down and enjoy the moment. Holiday spirit fills the air around our accommodation in Provence. “Peace and quiet on the doorstep of Marseille,” says Marion.

Côté Délices

Although The Originals City, Hotel Côté South, Marseille East does not have a dining area, its partner restaurant, Côté Délices, is only a short walk away. This place is well-known for offering excellent value for money. Whether you sit in the dining room with its Provençal colours, or out in the shade on the delightful terrace, you are sure to love the owners’ warm, friendly welcome. Tasty and generous, their traditional-style regional food is all homemade. Open for breakfast (from 7 am to 10 am), served buffet-style, and for dinner (7 pm to 9:30 pm ) - which is available either to have in or take away - this is not to be missed!

Note : The restaurant is open from monday to friday from noon to 2 pm and from 6:30 to 8:45 pm. The breakfast is available on-site and to take away in the room.

"Quiet, peaceful stay in scenic location"

The semi-rural location of the hotel, in its own little "park" is attractive. The location is ideal if you are coming by car. It's not a city-centre hotel where you can wander out into a main street and find a multiplicity of restaurants and shops! My stay was very quiet and peaceful. The room was comfortable, with its own built-in mini kitchen, and a spacious bathroom. I didn't eat in the restaurant, so can't comment on the food. The two reception staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. The free WiFi connection was rock-solid.

GARLABAN HIKE

With an elevation of 714m, the summit of Garlaban once served as a landmark for Phoenician sailors navigating their way to the Bay of Marseille, and today towers over the town of Aubagne.
It was first made famous by Marcel Pagnol, who featured the hill in his works. Several walking trails criss-cross the sides. Expect a hike here to take at least 3 hours.
