The closeness of Rouen. The calm of the countryside. An acclaimed restaurant. Welcome to Anibal Da Silva’s place.
“Here the emphasis is on hospitality, and the services that we offer.”
Anibal chose to go into the hotel business because of “the variety of the work”. Providing high-quality services is top of the list. High-quality rooms, which have recently been refurbished. A high-quality dining experience at La Berteliere, The Originals Relais’ restaurant, Le Jardin d’Hiver, which enjoys a wonderful reputation in many Normandy guides, and which is “a restaurant which is not only popular, but famous,” according to Anibal. Last but not least, high-quality hospitality provided to professionals, with no less than 9 reception rooms here for all kinds of work meetings, complemented by the complete tranquillity of the countryside. Located in Saint-Martin-du-Vivier, the 4-star hotel enjoys an ideal spot: “it’s close to Rouen and all the excitement of city life.” Without all the stress. Here, guests can enjoy the grounds, the rose garden, the charm of an ancient Norman residence with a warm, friendly feel, and the smiles of Anibal and her team. All this makes La Berteliere, The Originals Relais one of the best places to stay in Normandy.
The 44 rooms at La Berteliere, The Originals Relais look out over the flower-filled garden’s water feature, or the rose garden. Recently refurbished, they are comfortable practical, and decorated in a unique, classic, and welcoming style. They all have a bathroom with separate toilet. Double rooms offer king size beds (180x200). Should families wish to stay in adjoining rooms, this can also be accommodated. La Berteliere, The Originals Relais has two dining rooms. One is L’Auberge, with a magnificent self-service buffet featuring both hot and cold options made with organic and local ingredients. The other is Le Jardin d’Hiver, for lunch and dinner. This French restaurant’s reputation is well-established, with its diners falling in love with both the cooking and the room’s gorgeous decoration. ROUENYou’re sure to fall in love with the 2000 years of history here in the ‘city of 1000 spires’. Follow in the footsteps of Joan of Arc, wander down the cobbled streets, admire the timber-framed houses, take a moment of peace in one of the many Gothic churches and lose yourself in the beauty of the Notre-Dame cathedral, which provided the inspiration for a number of Monet’s works, stop by to see the Gros Horloge - a Renaissance arch housing one of the oldest clock mechanisms in Europe - or stroll along the banks of the Seine…
THINGS TO SEE NEARBYLe Havre, the Manhattan of Normandy where you’ll be able to enjoy the exciting experience of walking across the Normandy Bridge; Dieppe, the town with 4 ports; the royal city of Eu; the maritime city of Le Tréport and its funicular railway; the unique town of Etretat; Varengeville-sur-Mer and its seamen’s cemetery...Normandy is a wonderful place for both walkers and cyclists, with everything from coastline to countryside. If you’re looking for something a bit different, why not explore the Seine-Maritime coastline by sea (for example, with a kayak, paddle boat, yacht, or old-style sail boat)?
What our customers say
Lovely hotel. Nice rooms with good facilities. Location was good. Breakfast was delicious but a little bit expensive with €15,- p.p. Flexible early check-in around 08:00 in the morning. Overall very friendly staff except the staff behind the bar. They ignore you completely or they are not there at all. Anyway, they make sure you do not feel welcome in the bar and that is a shame. I could honestly say that the staff behind the bar are the hotels "weakest link". Either retrain them with customer service or replace them at all!!
Nice hotel, in a good location. Pleasant gardens. furniture of the room could be renovated.
"1st Class Hotel"
The Hotel/Bedroom, Staff and Food are of a very high. We only stayed one night but we will be back for a longer stay
The staff were very helpful and allowed me to practice my French with them. We did ask for the beds to be divided into two before arriving but unfortunately this was not the case on arrival. Although, not a big issue it would have been more comfortable. The overbath shower was very slippery and no safety handrail was fitted, which made it difficult for me as I have a knee replacement. I should have asked for a walk in shower on retrospect. If these are available? The dining experience was very nice, the evening meals we had were very tasty. Breakfast was more than adequate The room was clean with a nice view over the garden. We have stayed here twice now and would do again without hesitation. would recommend it.
"Great location, great hotel "
This hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were very accommodating. The location just off the main road is ideal yet it is quiet and relaxed. Excellent food both at dinner and breakfast. We had no complaints and would definitely stay here again.
Very friendly staff provide a relaxing atmosphere in relaxing surroundings. Restaurant was ver good
"One night stopover. "
We have stayed here many times in the past, from when it was a Best Western, to Quality Hotels, Qualys then now and have to say have not noticed any difference in the hotel. It is a convenient, quiet stop in Rouen with great free parking. The bed was very comfortable but no air con and poor WiFi is a shame. The rooms are basic but clean with no frills. Tea/coffee is very welcome and not standard in French hotels. Breakfast was plentiful. The dining room, as it always has been, was lovely and on a pleasant evening the terrace was open. The food was good and choice ok. We will stay here again.
