The Brittany peninsula is famous for its cliffs, capes and coves. As the sun sets in the West, these rocks offer stunning views out to the Atlantic.
Further east, you can walk the magnificent cliffs of Normandy and Pas-de-Calais. Highlights include the natural chalk arches at Étretat as well as Cap Blanc Nez, close to Calais. For fossil hunters, nearby Cape Gris Nez is also worth a visit.

A big draw for history lovers are the D-Day landing beaches in Normandy. You can also visit the famous WW1 battle sites in the northeast, near Amiens. Inland, other attractions include the Vernier marshes formed by an old branch of the Seine.
