This is a Basque house with colours in the traditions of this surprising land. It is an enchanting place where sophistication combines with nature. Welcome to Philippe and Bruno Dottax's hotel in the nouvelle Aquitaine!
“ Talking and sharing are what makes our hospitality work so rewarding.”
It is about an enduring family tradition in this land of traditions. In Ainhoa, one of France’s most beautiful villages in the heart of the Basque country. Surrounded by idyllic nature, this charismatic house is also a charming Ainhoa hotel. Two brothers ensure that the hospitality remains an art. And the authenticity a trademark. Hotel Argi-Eder, The Originals Relais is a place where the gentle way of life has been passed down through many generations. “We want to offer our guests our different and particular way of doing things, our identity, our authenticity, our uniqueness,” explain Philippe and Bruno. Their 4-star establishment is therefore, just like the Basque country, full of feeling.
It is in this harmonious setting that Philippe and Bruno host their guests in their 19 rooms and 7 suites. The colours are warm like the shades of the Basque country, the materials are high quality and the comfort is absolute. Crimson, mellow reds and wood create a soothing ambiance. Our accommodation near Biarritz is elegant, welcoming and authentic. A peace haven where time passes more slowly.

While Bruno pampers his guests, Philippe, a traditional cook, scours the markets of Bayonne and Saint-Jean-de-Luz in search of the best local products. At breakfast you can enjoy cold cuts and cheeses from the Basque country. Homemade jams, compotes and cakes complete this typical and delicious menu. All in an enchanting Ainhoa restaurant, open to the surrounding nature.
Hotel Argi-Eder, The Originals Relais is a unique experience in an idyllic setting. An invitation to experience the soul of the Basque country in a magical setting.
DISCONNECTThis rural accommodation in Ainhoa encourages you to enjoy the gentle way of life in the Basque country. There is a fantastic swimming pool where you can cool off in hot weather. Tennis courts are available for those wishing to have a few rallies.
HIKINGBruno highly recommends hiking up Mont Erebi. The climb, from the hotel, takes 45 minutes: the summit is at a height of 580m and the panoramic view is stunning. You can admire the plain of Labourd to the north and the Basque coast and Atlantic Ocean to the west. The view of Larrun mountain is also worth the trip.
EXPLORINGPhilippe also recommends going inland a bit from the Basque coast and exploring France’s most beautiful villages: Ainhoa, La Bastide-Clairence, Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port or Sare…
EXCITING EXPERIENCESHiking in Soule is full of surprises, such as Holzarte footbridge or Kakuetta gorges. The footbridge is suspended at a height of 180 metres and looks down over the Olhadubi gorges. The scenery of the Kakuetta gorges is equally breathtaking.
The setting is idyllic, authentic and naturally soothing. There is also a fully equipped seminar room which makes a nice place to work.
