Located in the heart of the hills of the Basque Country in Bidarray, the hotel invites you to discover the riches of a surprising region.
BERA, THE RHUNEThis mountain, the Rhune, remains emblematic of the French Basque Country. Larrun, in Basque, rises to 900 m. Its summit (marked by a television transmitter) offers a splendid panorama of the ocean, the Landes forest, the Basque Pyrenees mountains and, in the south, the Bidassoa valley. It can be reached by a small rack railway, dating from 1924.
THE KAKUETTA GORGESIf you like the nature and the spectacular walks, go to admire the Kakuetta gorges, carved into the limestone. The entrance to the “Grand Étroit” is the most extraordinary passage. It is a canyon, only 3 to 10 meters wide and more than 200 meters deep. The path approaches the torrent you cross on footbridges. It ends with a view of a cascade 20 m high formed by a resurgence. A cave decorated with stalactites and giant stalagmites marks the end of this magnificent course.
CAMBO-LES-BAINS, VILLA ARNAGAThis amazing villa was built by Edmond Rostand, thanks to the rights of Cyrano de Bergerac. The huge villa Arnaga, Basque-labourdin style, stands on promontory landscaped gardens. It features wood panelling, decorative paintings and tile friezes, trompe l'oeil, stained glass... A particularly moving and refined house in which you will discover many documents about the career of the playwright.
CIBOURE, THE BASQUE CORNICEFor lovers of beautiful walks, this “Basque Cornice” is ideal. First step, the port of Socoa. From the semaphore, admire the view that extends to the south-west on the Basque coast, Cape Figuier, Spain, and Biarritz. Beautiful cliffs plunge into the Atlantic. Follow the coastline to Hendaye: lined with gorse, the road approaches the cliffs of Socoa.
In an idyllic setting, the hotel puts at your disposal a seminar room perfectly equipped and air-conditioned.
In the old restored farmhouse with exposed stone walls and natural light, this 65 m2 room can accommodate up to 42 people in seminar, theatre or cocktail seating configurations.
