DOUARNENEZDouarnenez, the town of 3 ports, may not be the capital of sardine fishing it once was, but it retains an active fishing community. Rosmeur Port and the Port-Rhû harbour museum, with a variety of ships to visit, is testimony to the glorious past and traditional heritage of Brittany’s seafarers. All along the idyllic coastline, beaches and coastal paths, such as the Plomarc’h, you’ll be able to enjoy magnificent walks where you can explore the beauty of Douarnenez and its stunning bay.
WALKS AROUND THE BAYDouarnenez Bay has plenty of beaches to discover between the cliffs and peaks, particularly around Telgruc-sur-Mer, Saint-Nic, Plomodiern, Sainte-Anne-la-Palud and Kerlaz. The bay is also home to some ancient forts, including one in Morgat. From Tréboul, near the hotel, the Roches Blanches (GR 34) coastal path takes you along the cliff tops to the south of the bay, easily winding your way towards the fine sandy beaches.
POINTE DU RAZFacing out onto the Iroise Sea to the south west of Finistère, feeling like you’re standing on the edge of the earth, you’ll see the peninsula of Cape Sizun to the far west of Cornwall and Pointe du Raz. Keep your eye out for nature’s wilderness, the vast ocean and landscapes out of a magical story book. Stroll down to Trépassés Bay, between Pointe du Raz and Pointe du Van. You’ll be able to admire Pointe du Millier, magnificent landscapes along the Lutins Trail, the view out towards the Ar Men lighthouse, along with the fascinating cultural heritage of Cape Sizun.
