Anthony left his Parisian newsagent business in 2005 to start a new life as a countryside hotelier in Anet, Eure-et-Loir. This new beginning was like another world in comparison with his busy Paris job, but he approaches his new role with the same philosophy, enjoying “the everyday pleasure of customer interaction”. The Originals Access, Hotel La Dousseine, Dreux North, welcomes both business travellers and tourists who come to explore the area’s charms. Here in the greenery of a large park you’ll find 20 quiet and comfortable bedrooms which have been recently updated, helpful staff and an establishment with a family feel. The hotel, its owner and his team are all as lovely as each other.

This small town in Eure-et-Loir is mainly known for its chateau on which work began in 1547 so it could be used by King Henry II’s mistress Diane de Poitiers. Today, all that remains is the west wing modified in the seventeenth century (the two other sections of the building were destroyed during the Revolution), the entrance gate with its clock featuring a deer surrounding by four braying dogs, and the chapel. With its dome covered in trompe-l’œil boxes, this is a real architectural gem of the French Renaissance. To the left of the chateau, a funeral chapel holds Diane de Poitiers’ remains.
