If you don't want to make breakfast in your apartment, the KOSY Appart’hôtels Grenoble - Les Cèdres has a lovely dining room. You’ll love the buffet’s offerings, serving up a generous continental breakfast (hot and cold drinks, pastries, cereal and dairy products, etc.). The products are mostly organic and regional. While the hotel doesn’t offer a restaurant, you’ll find just the place among the restaurants and grocery stores in the nearby city centre.
Bubbles? This is the name given to the Grenoble cable car’s rounded pods. The first urban cable car in France (established in 1934), it hoists its passengers over the city for five minutes, terminating at the Bastille fortifications. Made entirely from glass, the “bubbles” offer unique panoramic views over Grenoble and its historic centre.
Built into the upper reaches of the Chartreuse mountains, the Bastille fort majestically overlooks Grenoble. A visit to the 19th-century fortress, with its unobstructed views over the city, is also a starting point for lovely Alpine exploration, on foot or by mountain bike. Daredevils can also take on the fantastic via ferrata course.
Sitting at “The Round Table” means learning about and sharing a (long) page in the history of Grenoble. Dating back to 1739, this cafe is the oldest in the city and one of the oldest in France. Rousseau, Stendhal and Napoleon’s General, Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, the future King of Sweden, once visited. During the Second World War, the back room of the establishment was also a meeting place for the Resistance.
