The charm and tranquillity of the Périgord countryside. The flavours of local gourmet cuisine. Welcome to Serge's hotel.
“Relaxation, gourmet delights and true pleasure.”
Serge's Périgord adventure began on 1 April 2010, a few months after this pair of restaurateurs fell in love with this old seventeenth-century mill and its green surroundings just outside the village of Auriac-du-Périgord. Le Moulin de Mitou, The Originals Relais originally had eight bedrooms in the main fully-renovated building. However, the annex with nine extra bedrooms was soon ready for use, a pool and a wellness area were installed and the hotel earned its 3-star rating thanks to its quality services, comfort and charm. And then there’s the food... Serge is a master restaurateur and explains what to expect: “You need to come here feeling hungry!” The food is just like our Auriac-du-Périgord hotel itself: relaxed, delightful and a real pleasure.
The 16 bedrooms at Le Moulin de Mitou, The Originals Relais are divided between the mill and the annex, all offering traditional and sophisticated charm. Decked out in country-style wooden furniture, all rooms are colourful and full of character: the themes include riverside, Anjou delights, floral gardens, etc. The rooms of our hotel in Auriac-du-Périgord are spacious and bright and all have air conditioning.

This is a beautiful spot. Here's the heart of the old mill. On one side there is a room which can seat 30 diners. On the other, there is one for 20 people. On both sides there are visible stone walls, imposing arches and large, beautifully restored hearths. From the generous breakfast to the (very) generous lunches and dinners, this Auriac-du-Périgord restaurant charms with its sophistication and delicious flavours. The food here is typical of the Southwest from the Basque Country, via Landes to the Dordogne.
LE MOULIN DE MITOU
Serge enjoy sharing local cuisine with guests at our restaurant in Auriac-du-Périgord. For him “local” means the Basque Country where he worked for ten years, Landes (17 years) and now, the Dordogne. Serge uses fresh local produce, combining the flavours of land and sea. His specialities include: Ttoro (Basque soup), foie gras duo and sweetbread.
Le Moulin de Mitou, The Originals Relais is surrounded by a 3-hectare park, providing green natural surroundings ideal for a relaxing stroll. This is a peaceful haven in the heart of the Dordogne.
Enjoy relaxing during your stay at Le Moulin de Mitou, The Originals Relais in the heated outdoor pool and Jacuzzi (additional charge). Nearby there is also a sauna (additional charge) and a relaxation room where you can enjoy a range of massages with essential oils (additional charge; booking required). Take a walk through the park to the Laurence, a tributary of the Dordogne river which flows through the bottom of the estate.
THINGS TO SEE NEARBYExplore the area in an original way by canoeing down the Vézère river or hiring a bike to cycle along the riverbank. Not to be missed: Lascaux 4, an (almost) complete reproduction of the Lascaux Cave; the Gardens of Marqueyssac and their maze of 150,000 century-old, hand-pruned box trees; Proumeyssac Cave, known as the “cathedral of crystal” and today the largest developed cave in the Périgord.
