Panoramic views of the Dordogne Valley. The tranquil countryside. Welcome to Thierry Martignac's hotel.
"Welcoming guests without pretence to a magical place."
Thierry has been in the hotel industry for nearly 30 years. "I dreamt of a lifelong project in a fantastic place." This fantastic place is Loubressac, one of the most beautiful villages in France, around 20 kilometres from Rocamadour. Perched on a rocky peak, the village is one of the best places to stay if you are looking for a relaxing holiday. It overlooks the Dordogne Valley, boasting an exceptional vista. "I never tire of watching the sunrise in summer and the mist that descends over the valley in September," says Thierry. Guests at Le Relais de Castelnau, The Originals Relais can enjoy all 40 rooms, the restaurant and the infinity pool. "The hotel industry is a passion and several occupations in one: hospitality, cuisine and service. We also have to served as plumber, electrician and confidant at times."
The 40 rooms at Le Relais de Castelnau, The Originals Relais are practical and air-conditioned with unobstructed views over the valley from their window or balcony. The decor is traditional and understated. The walls are decked out with photos of Robert Doisneau, champion of Paris photography and that of his suburb who fell in love with Quercy in the 30s and frequently spent the holidays in Loubressac.

Settle down in the dining room or on the terrace for the buffet breakfast and dinner. Straight ahead lie the verdant Dordogne Valley and Castelnau fortress. On their plates, guests will discover rich Quercy flavours concocted by the restaurant chef and their team. Guests looking for a relaxing or refreshing break in the daytime can head to the bar which serves up hot, cold, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Could you dream of anything more beautiful? An immense heated infinity pool with birds-eye views over the valley. More than a relaxation area (pool + sunloungers), Le Relais de Castelnau, The Originals Relais is an enchanting time-out.
TENNISA private tennis court is available to hotel guests. Recommend to those looking to exert themselves, unless the mesmerising vista makes the verdant ripples of the landscape more compelling than the yellow ball...
THINGS TO SEE NEARBYThe region is brimming with famous sites: The awe-inspiring Padirac chasm and its 500-plus steps (don't worry, lifts are available); the incredible, religious Rocamadour; the wonderful Collonges-la-Rouge; the historic and prehistoric Pech Merle caves; Sarlat-la-Canéda with the City of Art and History label; and, last but not least, the many châteaux, including the Château des Milandes, known as the home of Joséphine Baker.
What our customers say
Beautiful place with an amazing view from the restaurant and the pool over the valey. Nice and friendly straff, that spoke well English. Clean, modern rooms. Best of all was the restaurant, absolutely amazing food! Unfortunately the aircondition was broken at the time, which is the only thing I can complain about. Overall we are very happy with our stay here!
"Highly recommended!! "
Top location, great panoramic view. Friendly personal, and very kind for pets also! We also had a nice diner and breakfast on the terras. Thank you!!
"Beautiful exhilarating location "
Wonderful views of the open countryside set in a tranquil location. We spent three days here amid mixed experiences. The food was excellent with an extremely competitive price and excellent value. Unfortunately there was no hot water from early one morning until late afternoon the next day. Consequently cold showers on two days not particularly conducive to a sublime holiday experience! The staff coped - just. Then the AC in our room did not work properly - an attempt was made to rectify with no real result. The staff were efficient but not particularly friendly. All in all a mixed experience, maybe we were unlucky.
Le Relais de Castelnau, The Originals Relais offers a fantastic, peaceful work setting for your meetings, study days, seminars, etc. Its fully equipped 60 m2 room can hold around 20 people. You'll love the natural light, understated surroundings and the pretty exposed stone wall.
