Hôtel Le Relais des Deux Mers The Originals City

When the New Aquitaine sun is beating down hard, there's nothing like taking advantage of the hotel's summer pool to cool off. Not huge (11 x 5 m), it is nevertheless large enough to relax peacefully. 

The "capital of the tomato", has a thousand year old history. Initially a simple castle protecting the navigation on the Garonne, Marmande was really founded by Richard the Lionheart in 1182, and during the next 5 centuries it experienced the throes of history between the crusade against the Cathars, the Hundred Years War, the plague and the wars of religion. To visit: the Notre-Dame church, the cloister or the Tour du Passeur (remains of medieval fortifications). To see: the mosaic retracing the 6 most important events of the city which covers 250 m2 on the old ramparts. 

Land of rugby and prunes, the capital of Agenais reveals its treasures along its pedestrian streets, its Fine Arts museum, the Notre-Dame du Bourg chapel or the Saint-Caprais cathedral but also from the banks of the Garonne. Take the footbridge over the river and admire the view on the old canal bridge, the second longest in France.

From the top of its rock, the oldest bastide of the Lot-et-Garonne imposes itself. With its magnificent old houses, private mansions and a square square with angle irons, the former stronghold is also worth a visit for the view it offers over the Agenais region. Gourmets also come here to savor the star cuisine of Chef Trama.
