Here, "Made in France" is a mentality that's meant to be enjoyed with others over an afternoon drink next to the hotel's pétanque court. Welcome to Michel Podevin's place.
"Hospitality, cheerfulness and cleanliness are our three guiding principles to ensure a memorable experience in our hotel."
Located near Rouen in Haute-Normandie on an expansive, 5,000 m2 lot, Michel offers guests the feel of a local bed and breakfast inside a 3-star hotel where honesty reigns supreme. The kitchen serves simple, authentic, traditional cuisine featuring local products, and the staff focuses on short supply chains and local producers. When you're ready to relax, head to the pétanque court, where there's a good chance the boss will join you for a game. One thing about the hotel you won't find anywhere else is Michel himself, whose down-to-earth and endearing personality infuses the entire establishment.
Located not far from the city of Rouen in a pretty wooded area, Michel's hotel welcomes families and professionals in spacious and comfortable rooms. The 68 rooms are fully equipped and feature a modern and inviting decorating scheme. Here, everyone is sure to enjoy a little taste of home.
Michel, who began his career in the restaurant business, has made a point to serve only top-quality cuisine at his hotel. The restaurant is cosmopolitan to the core and offers a traditional and authentic cuisine featuring international influences.
When asked why he decided to settle near Rouen, Michel points to the "taste of the region". He draws inspiration from the area and uses it to inspire his guests in turn.
No matter how you play pétanque, if you're in the Rouen area, Michel is ready to play. His pétanque court is as welcoming as he is.
Because the hotel is a short ride away from the national forest and the banks of the Loire River, Michel lets guests borrow bikes. In between games of pétanque, enjoy a ride in the fresh Rouen air.
Every time I have stayed in this hotel I have been so pleased with the warm and helpful welcome from the receptionist. I have stayed in this hotel several times at the end of a long drive and it has always been great.
Had a great night, the family rooms are a great idea. We could sleep knowing the kids in another were safe due to the outer door. Comfortable bed and staff were very friendly.
Hotel is very quiet and neat. The staff are friendly and polite. The rooms a comfy and compact allowing you to have a good rest after your journey. May I also say a huge thank you for the owner who was genuinely up set for us as we had our 2 bikes stolen from our bike mounts.
Such a good spot coming or going from Calais, we have been regulars. But the rooms, even the 'superior' we had this time, are starting to look tired - the ensuite 'pods' are nearing the end of their lives, and the attempt to upgrade bedside lights is hopeless - blinding bulkhead style lights, completely unsuitable. I hope some thought and money goes into an upgrade by the new owners, as the area is lovely and the staff great.
The room was very clean and breakfast was good. The only thing that wás less was the temperature in the room. It was really hot, it's because of that that I didn't sleep well.
Very quiet area. No disturbance from other guests. Nice clean room but very small for two people and a large dog. Shower and toilet clean and good to use. Towels and toiletries good. TV programs not as advertised - only English channel was boring Bloomberg about US share exchange. Breakfast good and fresh. Coffee excellent. We stayed here again on our way back so we must have been content.
We booked this hotel as an overnight on our return to the UK. We had our dog with us. The hotel was easy to find and we were kept informed of our booking. We had two rooms adjoining en suite. The rooms were clean and tidy albeit dated (1980s). The only drawback was the heat in the rooms. Without any aircon , it was like a sauna and we can't understand why as the day was cloudy and cooler than of late. Reception lent us a fan but it didn't offer much respite from the heat and we made sure our dog got the benefit from it firstly. Breakfast for €9.50 was fine, lots of choice and buffet style. Kids are free. Dog cost €5 for the overnight stay.
We stayed at the hotel over night as part of a road trip from Spain to the UK. We were looking for a good nights rest and somewhere to enjoy a meal and enjoy some downtime. This hotel delivered on every point! We arrived to a lovely welcome, with English speaking receptionist who accommodated a ground floor room facing beautiful landscape and a last minute booking in the onsite Grill restaurant. The hotel has private parking with no extra charge. The room was clean and modern. The bed was super comfy with lovely crisp white linen There is a coffee , wending machine.in the corridor , which is perfect if you intend on leaving before breakfast. We enjoyed a lovely steak meal (€15) in the restaurant. The service was friendly and prompt. They have a well stocked bar and a lovely outdoor seating area in stunning landscapes gardens. A fantastic experience.
We stayed here as an overnight stop coming back from the South of France. We had stayed in a different hotel on the way down and had a very bad experience. This hotel was cheaper and was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The lady on reception was lovely and her English was very good. We had a family room which was two separate rooms and a door to the corridor so you could leave the doors open between the two rooms if needed. Very good value and hard to find at that price in that area. We would definitely stay there again.
