Here, "Made in France" is a mentality that's meant to be enjoyed with others over an afternoon drink next to the hotel's pétanque court. Welcome to Michel Podevin's place.
"Hospitality, cheerfulness and cleanliness are our three guiding principles to ensure a memorable experience in our hotel."
Located near Rouen in Haute-Normandie on an expansive, 5,000 m2 lot, Michel offers guests the feel of a local bed and breakfast inside a 3-star hotel where honesty reigns supreme. The kitchen serves simple, authentic, traditional cuisine featuring local products, and the staff focuses on short supply chains and local producers. When you're ready to relax, head to the pétanque court, where there's a good chance the boss will join you for a game. One thing about the hotel you won't find anywhere else is Michel himself, whose down-to-earth and endearing personality infuses the entire establishment.
Located not far from the city of Rouen in a pretty wooded area, Michel's hotel welcomes families and professionals in spacious and comfortable rooms. The 68 rooms are fully equipped and feature a modern and inviting decorating scheme. Here, everyone is sure to enjoy a little taste of home.
Michel, who began his career in the restaurant business, has made a point to serve only top-quality cuisine at his hotel. The restaurant is cosmopolitan to the core and offers a traditional and authentic cuisine featuring international influences.
When asked why he decided to settle near Rouen, Michel points to the "taste of the region". He draws inspiration from the area and uses it to inspire his guests in turn.
No matter how you play pétanque, if you're in the Rouen area, Michel is ready to play. His pétanque court is as welcoming as he is.
Because the hotel is a short ride away from the national forest and the banks of the Loire River, Michel lets guests borrow bikes. In between games of pétanque, enjoy a ride in the fresh Rouen air.
I stayed here on my own with 2 dogs and found the place really warm and welcoming, My room was changed to accomodate the dogs on the ground floor and the staff were really helpful and did as much as they could to help me. I had a nice meal in the restaurant and the room was clean and nice. It was a stopover and convenient for my journey but I also drove through Rouen to get there, which looks a lovely place to visit using this hotel as a base
Very helpful friendly staff, clean comfy room, nice outdoor bar area good for our 2 dogs.
Nice friendly reception, lovely clean room. It was a good stay in a great location and we would definitely stay again.
Every time I have stayed in this hotel I have been so pleased with the warm and helpful welcome from the receptionist. I have stayed in this hotel several times at the end of a long drive and it has always been great.
Had a great night, the family rooms are a great idea. We could sleep knowing the kids in another were safe due to the outer door. Comfortable bed and staff were very friendly.
We booked this hotel as an overnight on our return to the UK. We had our dog with us. The hotel was easy to find and we were kept informed of our booking. We had two rooms adjoining en suite. The rooms were clean and tidy albeit dated (1980s). The only drawback was the heat in the rooms. Without any aircon , it was like a sauna and we can't understand why as the day was cloudy and cooler than of late. Reception lent us a fan but it didn't offer much respite from the heat and we made sure our dog got the benefit from it firstly. Breakfast for €9.50 was fine, lots of choice and buffet style. Kids are free. Dog cost €5 for the overnight stay.
Such a good spot coming or going from Calais, we have been regulars. But the rooms, even the 'superior' we had this time, are starting to look tired - the ensuite 'pods' are nearing the end of their lives, and the attempt to upgrade bedside lights is hopeless - blinding bulkhead style lights, completely unsuitable. I hope some thought and money goes into an upgrade by the new owners, as the area is lovely and the staff great.
We stayed here as an overnight stop coming back from the South of France. We had stayed in a different hotel on the way down and had a very bad experience. This hotel was cheaper and was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The lady on reception was lovely and her English was very good. We had a family room which was two separate rooms and a door to the corridor so you could leave the doors open between the two rooms if needed. Very good value and hard to find at that price in that area. We would definitely stay there again.
The room was very clean and breakfast was good. The only thing that wás less was the temperature in the room. It was really hot, it's because of that that I didn't sleep well.
Hotel is very quiet and neat. The staff are friendly and polite. The rooms a comfy and compact allowing you to have a good rest after your journey. May I also say a huge thank you for the owner who was genuinely up set for us as we had our 2 bikes stolen from our bike mounts.
