A soul, a story, an ideal location and a warm welcome. Welcome to Charlotte and François Chovet's hotel.
"A chance to meet interesting people and to give you the feeling of having experienced an exceptional stay, pampered by the staff but without any fuss."
The Originals Boutique, Hôtel Le Londres, Saumur is an old lady. Over 180 years old! It's also the oldest hotel still operating today in Saumur. Charlotte and François fell in love with the establishment in 2005. The couple, then undergoing a full career transition, wanted to get into the hospitality business to "combine their love for old stones and historical heritage with their need to please, to provide people with a restful break" . Ten years later, the goal has been reached: the hotel underwent a complete renovation, 2 aparthotels were created and a third star decorated the façade. But the couple did not stop there. In 2016, they expanded with the addition of 4 rooms with private terraces, a south-facing terrace and, most notably, with the conversion of their old conservatory with its Eiffel structure into a breakfast room / restaurant. "Hospitality has become our passion; it's just like if were at home receiving friends or family, sharing our stories, our favourite addresses and remaking the world".
François and Charlotte certainly do not lack imagination. 31 rooms, each with its own theme! Bayadère, Cadre Noir, Rockefeller, John Steed & Emma Peel... Each offers a different universe, "that way, everyone finds their own style, making them feel at home or, conversely, letting them inhabit a different atmosphere for a night" . Unique and in good taste, these rooms will provide all the necessary comfort and amenities. Now you just have to find the one that will satisfy your expectations, whether its S-L-XL+ or XL Luxe (here, even the categories have unique names). Unless you chose one of the 2 aparthotels.

Welcome to the very heart of The Originals Boutique, Hôtel Le Londres, Saumur: the old conservatory. 4 meter ceiling height and a glass-roof propped up by an original Eiffel structure: the setting is as impressive as the dishes which are served here. "There's no freezer here: all the products are fresh!" For breakfast, the breads and pastries are delivered by the baker while the honey, jams, fruits and other dairy products come from local producers. At noon and in the evening, forget about plates: grab a tray and select... jars! A unique and tasty concept developed by the chef, Jean,-Pierre Kausz.
LE CARRÉ DU LONDRES
Every two weeks, the chef Jean-Pierre Kausz invents 10 new recipes for jars, prepared with fresh and seasonal products: 3 entrées, 4 main dishes - including one vegetarian, both gluten and lactose-free - and 3 desserts. Le Carré du Londres is offering a brunch on Sunday mornings (11:30 am to 15 o'clock pm).

For Charlotte and François, one of the most pleasant experiences is discovering the city of Saumur and/or of its surroundings aboard a Volkswagen Combi during a half-day excursion. An escapade just as unforgettable as the beautiful sites you will be discovering throughout the Pays-de-la-Loire region.
Come and experience Pure Relax by Le Londres: a welcoming space where everyone can enjoy a moment of well-being and vitality, alone or in couple. Balinese, Swedish, California or Ayurveda massages...
The "Pearl of Anjou". This heritage jewel is not only created from stones but from an entire world of enchantment. What student has not come across one of the vivid illuminations from the "Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry" manuscript, a master-piece of Gothic art? Saumur is also home to the horse and to the famous Cadre Noir riders dressed in their black and gold tunics. The city is also worth the detour for its elegant castle and the richness of its old town.
THINGS TO SEE NEARBY
The Fontevraud Abbey in the glow of a setting sun. Here lies the troglodyptic heritage carved into the rock, forging the landscape and giving birth to some of the area's main economic activities (wine, mushroom growing) as well as to an unusual lifestyle and habitat: the village of Rochemenier, the troglodyptic houses of Forges, the Mystère des Faluns at Doué-la-Fontaine. Further, one comes across the Loire valley castles, Angers, the Puy du Fou, the Futuroscope, etc.
What our customers say
Great hotel in a fantastic location. Superb room size with lovely decor. Staff very accommodating and cheerful. Pauline on Reception was very charming and helpful. Only criticism would be regarding the bathroom. We were in a disabled friendly room which was perversely a little able bodied UN-friendly. Can fully appreciate the adaptations for wheel-chair users but the ability to fix the shower head to the wall would have meant a better experience for us. Also the robe hook in the bathroom is very stylish but has been put on upside down!
"Idéal pour visiter Saumur"
L'hôtel est dans un emplacement idéal pour visiter Saumur, proche du centre, du château et de la Loire. La chambre est décorée avec goût et très propre. Le petit-déjeuner est copieux et offre un large choix pour tous les goûts ! Le personnel est charmant et aux petits soins, je recommande pour une visite à Saumur !

Everything about our stay was fabulous! The homemade pancakes, jams, and yogurt were amazing! The grounds were unique and so very interesting! Our hostess was the absolute BEST!
"Grew to love this hotel"
Paulina was fantastic: so helpful and knowledgeable: couldn't do enough to help and advise. The breakfast lady also: used to make me fresh decaf coffee every morning. The breakfast selection was excellent. Loved your outside decking space to sit in and take a drink. Room was very clean and comfortable.Did not like the separate loo/ shower but other hotels we stayed in this trip have done the same so must be a trend? Car parking a great asset.
"Return to the Loire after about 25 years"
Saumur is an ideal centre for exploring the Loire between Angers and Tours. We stayed for nine days which was not enough. The hotel - Le Londres - is ca charming establishment with extremely friendly and helpful staff. My wife had to spend an unexpected day in hospital and the hotel staff were genuinely concerned.
