Château de Briançon The Originals Relais
Don’t be misled by the name Château de Briançon, The Originals Relais! No towering mountains in sight, but rather the gentle rolling hills of the Anjou countryside. 'The estate owes its name to the Briançon family, who settled here in the 11th century,' explains Pierrick, the manager. A private estate, continuously altered over nine centuries, the château was sold in 1941 to the Paris-based association La Résidence Sociale, which was then seeking a place to house orphaned children from Paris. It served various purposes over time an orphanage, a health resort, a nursery, and a medical-educational institute until it was transformed into a hotel in 2013. 'The association's mission remains to help vulnerable individuals. By staying at our establishment, each guest contributes to a project I find noble,' says Pierrick. And everyone enjoys the stunning surroundings, where 12 spacious rooms benefit from the peaceful tranquility of an 11-hectare park. 'The beauty of the site is a daily delight.'"
