The charm of Burgundy, the gems waiting to be discovered in Sens, the peace and quiet, and the warm welcome. Éric Lefèvre is looking forward to your visit.
“I have been around hotel guests since childhood. However you look at it, this job is in my genes”.
In northern Yonne, in Sens, this Sens hotel has always been here. It is part of the landscape. This is not least due to the fact that it is not only ideally located in the town centre, but it also sits within an immense 2000 m2 estate. This is a private estate, surrounding The Originals City, Archotel, Sens in lush greenery. Éric is particularly proud of this, as it means his guests can relax out on a magnificent terrace. He pours his heart and soul into looking after them, and is passionate about hospitality and service…a theme that continues all the way up to the 44 modern yet classic, peaceful and practical bedrooms, where comfort is key.
“To me, every single detail of our Sens accommodation is important,” says Éric. The 44 rooms of the large, classic building feature a highly contemporary style, with each accommodating between 1 and 4 people. Comfort remains Éric’s top priority, and he is keen to note that all rooms are excellently equipped, including with USB sockets and dual intensity lighting. The aim: to meet the needs of couples, friends, families and travelling businesspeople in the very best way possible.
- Non smoking room
- Air-conditioned room
- Room service
Éric is convinced that the best way to start the day is with a hearty breakfast. A buffet awaits guests in a beautiful dining room every single morning, served between 06:30 and 10:00 on weekdays and 07:30 and 11:00 on weekends. Breakfast can also be taken in guests’ rooms, or out on the terrace. The hotel also provides a catering service from Monday to Thursday, offering guests simple, traditional food at our Sens restaurant. Last but not least, guests can sit back and relax in the hotel bar's warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Sens, Yonne and northern Burgundy are full of wonderful surprises just waiting to be discovered. It is a region which is rich in both cultural and natural heritage.
SENSSens is the gateway to Burgundy. It is also a lovely town located on the banks of the Yonne river. A visit here is a must, as it is home to two absolute gems in the form of the Saint-Etienne cathedral and the synodal palace, both of which are testament to the grandeur of the town in times gone by. The ancient town centre retains the charm of half-timbered houses and stately homes, and the boulevards that have replaced ramparts to encircle the town simply cry out for visitors to indulge in a wander.
AUXERRELess than 1 hour away from Sens is the capital of Lower Burgundy, Auxerre, which is just waiting for you to explore it. The home town of Cadet Roussel, it is also home to an incredible cathedral and, best of all, the acclaimed Abbey of Saint-Germain d'Auxerre, where you will find the oldest frescoes in France. Auxerre is also an active port on the Yonne waterway, and the starting point for the Nivernais canal. In the surrounding region a plethora of wonderful walks are to be had in the rolling countryside, which is full of fields, forests, vineyards and orchards.
WALKS THROUGH THE MORVANThere is one other place that guests have simply got to see, south of Auxerre and in the heart of Burgundy, and that is the mysterious Morvan massif. This is a region like no other, with no major roads passing through it, which is covered in vast forests, rocky escarpments, lakes and incredible places...the Morvan is a very special place for sports and nature lovers alike. On the way through, if you have time, don’t miss out on a visit to Vézelay Abbey or Bazoches castle, follow in the footsteps of the Gauls to Mont Beuvray and Bibracte, or squeeze in a trip to the Roman Basilica of Saint Andoche or the idyllic Lac de Settons in Montsauche, which sits at an elevation of 573 m.
