THE BELFORT LIONThis colossal artwork by the Alsatian sculptor Auguste Bartholdi is an impressive 11 meters high and 20 meters long. This unmissable block sculpture stands at the foot of the cliff of Belfort's citadel. It was erected to serve as a symbol of the city's heroic resistance and in memory of the victims of the 1870-1871 assault.
