After a few years working in the restaurant industry, Lise, the daughter of hoteliers, began to miss the hotel business.

“We were living in Australia when the opportunity to take over this hotel came up. It allowed us to return to France, start our first business, and above all, put into practice everything we had learned through our professional experiences in London and Melbourne.”

At the head of The Originals City, Hôtel La Maison de Lise since 2012, Lise has never looked back. She is fully committed to making her 3-star, 47-room hotel a place where every guest feels at home.

Here, the chef is Carlo, Lise’s husband. A lover of generous, homemade French cuisine, he also brings a touch of transalpine flair inspired by his Australian-Italian roots. On his menu, spaetzle share the spotlight with olive sauce, and farfalle with vegetables sit side by side with tartiflette au munster.

The restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner.

The Gardens of Time

Come and discover the creation of two local enthusiasts, a 2-hectare grove along the banks of the Ill River. This dreamlike place is the result of seven years of meticulous work before opening to the public in 2010.

Today, Les Jardins du Temps are considered the largest modernist naturalist garden in France. They feature twelve different landscapes, including a vegetable garden, a color-themed garden, a perennial square, a collection of heritage roses, and a flowering meadow.

The Grand Ballon

The highest peak of the Vosges Mountains (1,424 m), the Grand Ballon, sometimes called the Ballon de Guebwiller, is well worth the (easy) climb. It delights hikers and cyclists in the summer, and skiers and walkers in the winter, but above all, it offers breathtaking views of the Alsace and Vosges landscapes.

At the summit stands the Diables Bleus monument, built in honor of the soldiers of the Alpine Hunter battalions who fought during World War I, as well as a civil aviation radar constructed in 1997.
