In 2015, Marine left the marketing world to take over Hotel Les Ormes in Barneville-Carteret near Cherbourg, in Normandy. "As deeply rooted and proud as an elm," the beautiful 19th-century building opens its heart on the marina and garden sides. The latter was created by a famous regional landscaper and based around little converted corners perfect for relaxation. The gentle, harmonious location makes this Norman hotel even more appealing. The former owners' penchant for repainting the interiors every six months is a thing of the past. Powdery pearl grey and ivory tones have replaced the chocolate, Panama yellow and aubergine. The 12 rooms and cosy lounges have been fitted out with sheer fabrics, natural materials and light patinas. A fantastic location for exploring the Cotentin Peninsula.
