Owner of The Originals Access, Hôtel Thouars since 2019, he made the switch from retail to hospitality in the early 2000s. "In the Patel family, we became passionate about this profession. It's a demanding job, and just as demanding as the customers. To meet their expectations, Bakulbhai has completely renovated his establishment, transforming it into a simple, comfortable little cocoon, a 22-room 2-star hotel just 5 minutes from downtown Thouars. The former Parisian, now fully settled in the Deux-Sèvres region, enjoys helping guests discover the secrets of the town's beautiful medieval heritage. "The town isn't one of the must-see tourist destinations, but our customers, both holidaymakers and business travellers, are often delighted by the discoveries they make.

LA TREMOïLLE CASTLE

With its 110 m. facade preceded by a courtyard of honor, the château of the former Ducs de la Trémoïlle is an impressive landmark. Built under Louis XIII, the richly furnished and decorated edifice was the scene of sumptuous festivities. Neglected under the reign of Louis XIV, the château was looted during the French Revolution. It became national property. Over the following decades, its history became more chaotic, as it became a barracks, a college, a prison and then a college again. The château has been open to visitors since the 1990s.

In the 12th century, Thouars was a stronghold reputed to be impregnable, thanks in particular to its solid ramparts punctuated by 44 defensive towers and wide ditches.
