LA ROCHELLEThis former fishing port at the edge of a narrow bay is guarded by two medieval towers: La Chaîne and Saint-Nicholas. This is the most famous view of the city and has been immortalised by painters Joseph Vernet, Corot and Signac. Today, the old port simply shelters pleasure boats while the surrounding area is exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists. The nearby old town extends from the central City Hall. Here you will find fifteenth-century timber-framed houses, Rue des Merciers and Rue du Palais, which are all worth exploring.
ÎLE D'OLÉRONOléron is a beautiful unspoilt island with ever-changing colours and never-ending sandy beaches. Its white frontage gives way to abundant greenery including mimosa plants, oleander, tamarisk and fig trees. In the centre, the small city of Saint-Pierre-d’Oléron comes alive during the summer season. Fort Boyard lies off the coast and remains inaccessible. Don’t miss the views of Oléron and the Antioche rocks from the top of the Chassiron Lighthouse.
This 4-star country hotel has two fully-equipped meeting and reception rooms which benefit from natural light.
