ROCHEMAURERochemaure, perched on a volcanic sheet of rock, has a rich and varied history. Particularly in its 12th century medieval castle, its 13th century ramparts and the 16th century Château de Jovyac. The old bridge, Notre-Dame-des-Anges Chapel and the old village are unmissable historical monuments to explore while you’re here. In its Notre-Dame-des-Anges Chapel, Rochemaure hides plenty of wonderful treasures, particularly the local legend of the ‘magic square’... And don’t miss out on the Himalayan footbridge passing over the ViaRhôna, a greenway that runs from Lake Geneva all the way to the Mediterranean.
LA HAUTE CORNICHEAlongside Saint-Remèze, Haute Corniche and its phenomenal viewpoints contain some of the biggest and best parts of the Ardèche gorges. From Saint-Remèze, you’ll pass some amazing lookout points over the Cathedral and La Madeleine, the Cathedral balcony, the Grand Belvédère, Saint-Marcel’s cave and Ranc-Pointu viewpoint. The route will help you uncover some of the most spectacular hidden spaces in these tormented gorges that run through the rich valley, eventually opening out onto the Rhône.
CRUSSOLFrom Crussol Mountain, 200m above the plains, you can admire the famous ruins of the Château de Crussol. The site is one of the biggest and best in the entire Rhône valley. You can reach this spot on foot following a trail in just 1 hour. From Donjon lookout, the view is simply superb. Vercors, Roche-Colombe and Trois-Becs come together to form a magnificent backdrop. The trail then follows the steep ridge to the south, providing fantastic views of the fortress and foothills of Massif Central.
MONTÉLIMARSay Montélimar to just about anyone and they’ll say nougat, and it’s true that the city certainly owes a large part of its reputation to the delicious treat. But Montélimar is first and foremost a gateway to the south of France. The city has a beautiful castle that plays host to regular temporary exhibitions on contemporary art. North of the walkway, you’ll see the massive Narbonne tower, from which you can admire vast panoramic views over the city and the Drôme pre-Alps.

"Stay at Medieval"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Medieval and can recommend it to all other travellers.
"Great night great hosts!"
The hosts were extremely nice (and chatty )). Had a great night there the perfect stop for a twenty hour drive home. The village is peaceful and so beautiful! The bedding was perfect and the separate toilet a definite plus! The 10€ breakfast was good with plenty of choices. The Italian accros the street recommended by the host was good and cheap!
